Management Accountant

Position Overview:

Due to the continued expansion of our business we are looking for a Management Accountant to join our team.  You will ensure that key month end and day to day activities are complete in a robust and timely manner. The role will also act as a key supporting role for Head of Finance but also play a key role in effective treasury and cash flow management in addition to statutory reporting.

Blackburn Head Office / Hybrid 3 Days per week in Blackburn

Role:

  • Support the Head of Finance in delivering first time right on time financial results including journals, month end close, key line items P&L reporting
  • Ownership of inventory, costing and margin reporting including variance analysis for all sales channels and manufacturing (prior experience of FMCG would be an advantage)
  • Work with departmental heads to support key business processes and develop commercial and operational understanding
  • Ownership of key audit deliverables for responsible areas
  • Provide the Head of Finance with concise, and clear updates and ensure all issues are escalated in a timely manner
  • Support Head of Finance in ensuring a strong controls environment
  • First point of review for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Lead process of process documentation and controls for all assigned areas and ensure consistency across all documented processes
  • Maintain and improve standardisation of tasks and processes
  • Assisting in key stages of system implementations/upgrade programmes
  • Other Adhoc projects

Key attributes and skills:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) (first time movers from practice who can demonstrate good business acumen will be considered)
  • Organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changing priorities
  • Strong Excel Skills (SQL skills would be an advantage)
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally FMCG), a good understanding of cost accounting within FMCG would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of Microsoft NAV or Business Central would be an advantage
  • An inquisitive mind, a willingness to learn, and to contribute to ad-hoc projects as they arise.
