QC Analyst

Position Overview:

Pets Choice Ltd. manufactures veterinary medicines, biocides and many other companion animal healthcare and hygiene products under the brand name of Bob Martin at our factory in Yatton. Reporting to the QC Laboratory Team Leader, the QC Analyst is responsible for undertaking analytical duties, with a focus in respect of veterinary pharmaceuticals, including involvement in method development and validation, and participation and support of the wider Quality Control function.

Role:

  • Routine QC testing of active ingredients and preservatives, both as raw materials and in finished product formulations of samples submitted to the laboratory. Also ensuring that the Annual API Testing Schedule is active and adhered to.
  • Keeping stock of lab consumables and analytical material, including analytical standards.
  • Ensure that analytical equipment is qualified, maintained, serviced and calibrated to current standards and that appropriate logs are maintained. Assist with the evaluation, purchase and qualification of new equipment within the laboratories.
  • Routine testing and inspection of incoming goods against specified standards.
  • Routine QA tasks managing stock release process and issuing of certificates of analysis
  • Reporting of laboratory and other data in appropriate laboratory books and logs, in accordance with GLP.
  • Completion of test reports and certificates of analysis are correctly prepared and verified.
  • Organise testing by external laboratories when required.
  • Participate in method development / method improvement projects. 
  • Working with the appointed team for Qualification and Validation to facilitate the management of transfer of methods into laboratory.
  • Liaise with production operatives and support the production function to achieve manufacturing objectives, e.g. calculation of addition quantities, in-process QC testing. 
  • Participate in the investigation of complaints related to the quality of the product. 
  • Participate in Qualification and Validation to facilitate the management of analytical work to support process validation, cleaning validation method validation and qualification.
  • Working with the appointed person responsible for Qualification and Validation to facilitate the management of transfer of methods into laboratory.
  • Report any health and safety concerns to line manager as well as being responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues.
  • Any other task required within reason to fulfil specific objectives. 

Key attributes and skills:

  • Established experience in a Quality Control laboratory environment.
  • Working knowledge and significant practical experience of analytical equipment, especially HPLC systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and take corrective actions for such equipment a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Laboratory Practices, in the context of pharmaceuticals would be a considerable advantage.
  • Ability to communicate easily at any level in an appropriate and concise manner.
  • Ability to meet competing deadlines and demands for work.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to set and achieve personal targets as well as achieve agreed targets.
