Senior Operative - Manufacturing, Blackburn

The location of the role is within a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, alongside its Distribution Centre and Head Office located on Whitebirk Industrial Estate, Blackburn.

  • Leading the team to ensure product is produced in line with specification
  • Ensure standards and procedures are adhered to
  • Give clear direction to the team developing and maintaining quality-based production, whilst monitoring individual, team and machine performance.
  • Conduct regular GMP and Health and Safety walks reinforcing positive behaviour and dealing with non-compliance
  • Ensure all manning is utilised effectively and in line with line maps
  • Work alongside Production Manager to support the delivery of action plans to achieve set target’s
  • Root Cause analysis by completion of SIC controls with clear timebound action plans agreed with Production Manager
  • Work collaboratively and engage with other Senior Op’s/ Production Manager to achieve business objectives
  • Ensure all stock and inventory levels are correct and utilised as per specification. Weekly stock check.
  • To support the delivery of continuous improvement action plans through the team with Production Manager guidance
  • To attend daily performance review meeting in the absence of Production Manager
  • To engage with the team’s offering support and guidance and in doing so provide continual staff training. Creating a self-motivated engaged team.
  • To deputise for the Production Manager when required
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating personnel along with full completion of daily pre-start safety checks and issues must immediately be  raised with Production Manager
  • To immediately report to the Production Manager any delays effecting production and safety
  • Administrative Tasks

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:

  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • GMP awareness
  • OSH working safely qualification


Competitive salary based on experience. 

Holiday entitlement is 23 days pa plus statutory bank holidays (3 days to be used during the Christmas period).

Company pension scheme will also be available after qualifying period. 

Core working hours are 07:00 – 16:00, however due to the nature of the role some out of hours working will be required.
